This month’s installment of everyone’s fave storytelling event was absolutely electric. We hit the jackpot when we rallied 6 phenomenal women to tackle the theme: DON’T TELL MOM. Now, soak up these stories of secrets- big and small- that helped shape who these ladies are today.

***content warning– the 6th story, titled ‘Choices’, involves suicide

 

1. JACINDA THOMAS: “THREE MOMS”

Jacinda shares a peek into her expansive and unique familial experience, both before and after her actual birth. She also shares about the many moms that come into play when you are adopted.

 

2. KERESTIN WALKER: “MY JOURNAL TODAY”

Kerestin shares a vulnerable slice of inner thoughts from her journal that touch on being black amidst the current political state of our city (and of the world in general).

 

3. DONNA OTTER: “JUST MY TYPE”

Donna shares a tale about taking a chance on a stranger from a very different background, and in turn having an impromptu movie date.

 

4. ANONYMOUS: “ODD JOB”

When debt catches up to you, sometimes you find yourself doing an ‘odd job’… and sometimes that job will definitely be something you keep from your mom.

 

5. BEACH PACE: “ON BELAY! DISCOVERING WHO REALLY HAS YOUR BACK” 

Beach talks about not only discovering who has your back, but about discovering who she really is and how we as humans need to tackle that definition on our own.

 

6. KISHA JARRETT: “CHOICES”

Kisha bravely and honestly shares a moment in her life where she made a choice, and how she realized that today she wouldn’t make the same one.
