When Wildfang throws a party, Natasha Kmeto is usually our first call. Tonight’s no exception. To celebrate the grand opening of our brand new Wildfang West location in downtown Portland, Kmeto will once again step into the DJ booth to spin the tunes and help make it a true no-holds-barred Wildfang blowout bash! An OG tomboy, Kmeto has been a key player in the PDX music scene for years as both an electronic producer and mega-skilled vocalist. In September, the talented musician dropped her latest album, ‘Inevitable’, a soulful blend of R&B meets dance tracks. Being the rad human she is, Kmeto is sharing an exclusive free download of “I Thought You Had a Boyfriend,” available below. Check it out and get pumped for tonight!

‘Inevitable’ just dropped and we’re totally digging it! Can you tell us what inspired the new album?

Thanks so much! ‘Inevitable’ is bolder and more unrestrained than anything I’ve done before but it’s actually softer and more expansive, speaking to both lightness and darkness. I was attempting to narrate my journey and self-actualization more directly without pulling any punches.

What do you have in store for 2016?

Lots of touring and lots of writing, perhaps another release!

Like us, you’re also lucky enough to call PDX home—as someone who’s in the music scene here, where are your absolute favorite places to see a show?

I love Mississippi Studios, Holocene, and the Doug Fir best. All have great sound systems, great aesthetics, and all have been very supportive of my career, as well 🙂

If you were stuck on a desert island and you could only take 3 albums with you, what would they be?

These questions are always so hard!

Stevie Wonder, “Innervisions” – This record never gets old for me, it’s classic and always uplifting.
Erykah Badu, “Live” – One of my favorite artists and singers singing live, you can’t beat that.
Daft Punk “Homework” – Still one of my favorite electronic albums of all time.

And, of course, we have to ask about your tomboy style—what’s your favorite menswear inspired clothing item in your closet?

I have many suit jackets and blazers but there’s a very basic black men’s blazer I have that always dresses up every outfit in a very simple but sexy way.
